7th Annual Laura Holtz
Tennis Tournament to fight Epilepsy 2025
Sponsored by: Maplewood Recreation Department

Who: Adults Ages 18 and older. Teams must be two adults – any combination of genders.

What: Single Elimination, Adult Doubles Tournament. Best Two out of Three Sets, Regular Scoring USTA Rules in effect.

Early registration for Maplewood and South Orange residents begins July 1st, 2025. Registration open to ALL beginning August 1st, 2025

When: Saturday, September 6th: 8:30am & 10:00am & 11:30am & 1:00pm (First/Second Rounds)

Sunday, September 7th 8:30am (Semi-Final Round) & 11:30am (Final)

Players must be available during the above times. No exceptions. If additional time/dates are necessary due to rained out rounds, teams will work with the tournament committee to arrange mutually convenient time/date for make-up rounds.

Where: Memorial Park Tennis Courts (Adjacent to the Maplewood Civic House) and Walter Park Tennis Courts (adjacent to paddle courts).

Cost: $50 (donation) per Team --Please bring $50 Cash or $50 check to your first match made Payable to: Epilepsy Services of New Jersey. Draw will be limited to a 16 team Draw. Entry Fee includes Tournament T-shirt. Tennis Balls will be provided. Note: 100% of Entry Fee will be donated to the Epilepsy Services of New Jersey.

If you are unable to participate but would like to make a donation, please send a check made payable to Epilepsy Services of NJ and mail to John Trinity, Maplewood Recreation Department 574 Valley Street Maplewood NJ 07040. Please come out and cheer on the players…We will also be selling tournament tee-shirts at the tournament; proceeds to benefit Epilepsy Services of NJ.

Entry Forms must be received by Tuesday September 2nd. Draw will be Emailed to participants on
Thursday September 4th. The Draw and Starting Times/Locations/Results will be emailed to participants.


Laura Holtz began playing tennis in the Maplewood Tennis Program at age 6 and became a tennis instructor while in high school for the children’s classes and for the tennis camp. She was a talented tennis player, caring teacher, and a wonderful person. Laura passed away from complications relating to Epilepsy at the age of 20. This charity tournament is being held in Laura’s memory.
